1.1 Turn on the octane tester heating power switch and the lubricating oil heating control switch, adjust to the 7~8 scale. And heat the lubricating oil to 125± 5℉ before starting.
1.2 Check the atmospheric pressure on the day, convert it into an inch Hg column, check the table, get the added value of air heating temperature and counter, and correct the counter.
1.3 Check whether there is any debris around the machine, check the lubricating oil level and the water level of the cooler, and the water level can be seen by the liquid level gauge.
1.4 Turn the flywheel 2~3 times clockwise, so that the dead point on the compression stroke is indicated by the red point. (note: if the disk is not moving or very tight, do not start the testing machine).
1.5 Turn on the cooling power and check the level of antifreeze liquid.
1.6 Add preheated oil to the oil cup and set the counter below 500.
1.7 Lubricate each filling point.
1.8 Turn on the power supply, turn on the start knob and point it to start until the lubricating oil pressure reaches 25~30 pounds. Turn on the heating, ignition and knock meter switches, and place the selector valve on the preheated oil with corresponding number to preheat the oil (no knock combustion).
1.9 Turn on the cooling water
1.10 Set the knock meter to zero. Turn the zero switch to zero position. If the knock meter does not point to zero, open the cap of the zero setting knob and use the knob to zero.
1.11 When preheating for about 30 minutes and the crankcase feels hot, the sample can be tested. In the meantime 135 + 15 ℉ lubricating oil temperature。
2.1 Determine standard knock strength.
2.2 Use a reference fuel in the same range as the sample.
2.3 Set the compression ratio to the desired value.
2.4 Large detonation combustion – air ratio can be obtained by adjusting fuel liquid level.
2.5 Adjust the “instrument amplification knob reading” of the detonator , then the detonation is expressed at the position of 50±1.
2.6 Turn the carburetor fuel selection valve to the fuel tank containing the sample.
2.7 The fuel – air ratio is obtained by adjusting fuel tank level.
2.8 Adjust the compression ratio, making the detonator reading to 50.
2.10 Read the counter reading (the reading compensated by atmospheric pressure), read the corresponding octane number from the table. Complete each step above to obtain an octane number determination result.
2.11 The biggest tolerance between he octane number of the sample and the octane number of the reference fuel used to determine the standard knock strength are not more than ±1 octane number. One octane expansion per unit at each measurement point must be specified at 10-12 grids.
2.12 In case of factory analysis, interpolation is recommended.
2.13 Do according to the operation requirements, calibration with standard oil and data correction.
3.1 After testing, turn off the knock meter switch.
3.2 After the test, if the added oil sample is measured, it shall be discharged. And then the tank shall be washed with gasoline without additives, and the oil shall be burned for 2~3 minutes without detonation. And the selection valve shall be placed at the stop oil supply position.
3.3 Turn off the heating switch and ignition switch and reduce the counter to about 500. Push the start switch knob to stop position.
3.4 Push the flywheel to the dead center of the compression stroke. Remove the remaining standard samples and samples.
3.5 Turn off the heating, power and refrigeration switch. Turn off the cooling water, wipe the machine.
