ASTM D2699 -Standard Test Method for Research Octane Number of Spark-Ignition Engine Fuel.
(RON) Research octane number, determined using Test Method D2699, is a companion method to provide typically higher octane rating under milder operating conditions.

The current national standard in China is equivalent to ASTM D2700 and ASTM D2699 standard methods to determine the octane number of gasoline.
